CSAT % = (Number of satisfied responses ÷ Total responses) × 100
"Satisfied" is defined as top-box responses — scores of 4 or 5 on a 5-point scale, or 9–10 on a 10-point scale.
Worked example: 500 post-support survey responses. 430 rate 4 or 5 out of 5. CSAT = 430/500 × 100 = 86%. Industry benchmark for customer support: 85–90% is typical for well-performing teams.
