A QR Code Generator turns information into a two-dimensional code that a compatible camera or scanning app can read. This browser-based generator creates codes for websites, plain text, Wi-Fi settings, email, phone numbers, SMS, contact cards, locations, calendar events, WhatsApp chats, app links, and custom content. Your entered data is formatted and encoded locally wherever possible; no account is required and the generator does not need to fetch the destination website.

Use a static QR code when the encoded content itself is the thing you want to share. A website QR code contains the address you enter, so the code does not automatically change if that page moves. Check important destinations before printing, and remember that anyone who can scan a code can read its payload.

  1. Choose the content type that matches what you want a scanner to open: Website, Wi-Fi, Contact, Location, Event, WhatsApp, App link, or another format.
  2. Enter only the information that should be encoded. For a website, use an http:// or https:// URL. For a location, enter latitude and longitude within their valid ranges. For an event, check the start and end times.
  3. Review the generated preview and the format summary. Keep the content short enough to produce a code with comfortable module spacing, especially for small printed labels.
  4. Use the appearance controls to choose the code colour, background, output size, margin, and error-correction level. Test the finished design with a real phone before distributing it.
  5. Download PNG for ordinary documents, SVG for scalable artwork, or use the print/PDF action for a paper proof. Keep a copy of the original destination or text separately so you can audit what was encoded.

How QR code generation works

The generator first builds a structured payload. For example, a Wi-Fi code uses the recognised WIFI: format, a contact code uses a vCard record, a location uses a geo: link, and a website uses the URL itself. Special characters are escaped where the format requires it, so a semicolon in a Wi-Fi network name is not mistaken for a field separator.

The QR encoder converts that payload into square modules, adds the selected quiet-zone margin, and applies one of four error-correction levels: Low (L), Medium (M), Quartile (Q), or High (H). More correction adds redundancy that can help a partly damaged code remain readable, but it also uses more modules and can make a dense payload harder to scan. Higher correction is not a substitute for contrast, adequate size, or a clear margin.

There is no single useful “QR complexity score” independent of the chosen encoding options. Payload length, character mode, error correction, and QR version all affect density. A shorter payload is usually the most reliable optimisation.

Using the generated result

Preview before you publish

The preview shows the actual QR image produced from your selected payload rather than a decorative placeholder. Check the format label, readability warning, colours, and margin. For a URL, read the complete destination before scanning. For a Wi-Fi or contact code, avoid displaying the result where people who should not receive the information can photograph it. QR codes are a data-sharing format, not a security boundary. Do not encode credentials, payment secrets, or personal information unless you understand who can copy and scan the result.
