Recreational cyclist: 1.5–2.5 W/kg. Sportive/gran fondo competitive: 2.5–3.5 W/kg. Cat 3/4 amateur racer: 3.5–4.5 W/kg. Cat 1/2 / domestic pro: 4.5–5.5 W/kg. World Tour professional: 5.5–6.5 W/kg. Tour de France GC contenders average ~6.2 W/kg for major climbs. W/kg is more meaningful than raw watts for hilly courses because gravity is the dominant resistance force on steep grades.
