Recovery monitoring uses training load (RPE × session duration), sleep hours, rest days, and muscle soreness to produce a readiness score. Guard analytics covers per-game scoring, rebounding, and assists alongside shooting efficiency metrics including the effective field-goal percentage (eFG%), which adjusts for the extra value of three-point shots relative to two-point shots. Training load = RPE (1–10) × session duration (minutes). Acute:chronic workload ratio = this-week load / 4-week rolling average; ratio > 1.5 increases injury risk.
Effective field-goal percentage: eFG% = (FGM + 0.5 × 3PM) / FGA. This accounts for the 50% extra value of three-point shots. Assist-to-turnover ratio = assists / turnovers.
Elite NBA point guards (e.g. top quartile) average 20+ PPG, 7+ APG, 1.5+ A/TO ratio, and 48%+ eFG%. An eFG% below 48% is considered below league average for shooting guards. For recovery: an acute:chronic ratio above 1.5 is associated with a 2–4× increase in soft-tissue injury risk. Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep per night for optimal recovery; chronic sleep restriction below 6 hours significantly impairs reaction time, decision-making, and sprint performance.
